The miracle of birth is something that changes everything. For a father, it is a moment filled with deep emotion, overwhelming joy, and sometimes, fear. Vivan, my son, brought me that miracle. From the first time I held him in my arms, I felt an immense connection, a love that was beyond words. The journey I had with him was special and beautiful, but it wasn’t always easy. There were struggles, misunderstandings, and challenges that shaped both of us. But through it all, the love for Vivan was constant, and the strength it gave me was immeasurable.
In this post, I want to remember the powerful and emotional journey of fatherhood with Vivan, the joy he brought into my life, and the heartbreaking pain I feel now that he is no longer with me. It’s a reflection of my love for him, the challenges I faced, and the strength that helped me cope. Vivan was my world, and no amount of time will ever erase the bond we shared.
There’s nothing quite like the first time you see your child. For me, that moment when Vivan was born was everything. As soon as I saw his tiny face, my heart was overwhelmed with emotion. The connection was immediate. The love that flooded my heart was deeper than I ever imagined. I felt like I had been waiting my whole life for him, and in that moment, my life was complete.
The last time I saw Vivan, my heart was shattered into a million pieces. I stood hopeful, arms outstretched, longing for his embrace. But what I saw in his eyes broke me beyond words—fear and confusion replaced the joy and warmth I had known. He took hesitant steps backward, his small voice quivering, “I don’t want to go, I don’t want to go.”
The pain of hearing those words crushed me. His cry, now filled with fear and misunderstanding, echoed relentlessly in my heart. I knew this fear wasn’t his own; it was planted, nurtured, and watered by influences determined to alienate him from me.
Fatherhood is a deep, unconditional love. I was the one who cared for Vivan day in and day out. I homeschooled him for seven years, building a relationship based on trust and love. I saw him grow from a baby into a young boy, and every moment was precious. The bond we shared was something that can never be replaced, no matter how much time passes. My love for Vivan will never fade, even though he’s no longer physically with me.
Fatherhood, while full of joy, is also filled with challenges. There were times when I felt like I was walking through a storm. It wasn’t easy dealing with the emotional struggles that came with raising Vivan, especially when things weren’t right between his mother and me. I was faced with constant tension at home, and I often felt powerless. My anger, which would sometimes come out, wasn’t out of hate, but rather out of the pain of feeling trapped, misunderstood, and helpless.
What many don’t understand is that sometimes, the anger we feel is a reflection of deeper issues. It wasn’t just about small problems; it was the accumulation of unresolved issues. My wife and I were struggling in ways that I couldn’t fully express. It was like living in a constant state of uncertainty. Yet, I never once took that anger out on Vivan. I tried my best to shield him from it. But despite my efforts, there were moments when the tension seeped through, and that’s something I deeply regret.
Conflict between parents can have a profound impact on a child. I understand that now more than ever. Vivan was caught in the middle of a battle he didn’t ask for. His mother’s constant arguments and her attempts to control the narrative of our relationship affected him deeply. She used my anger as a weapon to turn him against me, and that hurt. It was like watching him slowly slip away, and I couldn’t do anything to stop it.
Love is a force of nature. But sometimes, it’s also about learning when to let go. I fought with everything I had to keep Vivan in my life. I tried to show him love and strength, even when it felt like I was losing him. But in the last days before he left, it became clear that things had changed. My son, whom I had once held so closely, was now distancing himself. And as painful as it was, I had to learn to respect his space, even if I didn’t understand it.
Fatherhood is a journey. It’s about the small moments, the laughter, the tears, and the challenges. Vivan’s growth was a testament to the love and care I gave him. From the first steps to the conversations we shared, every moment was a treasure. Those memories are what keep me going now. They are a reminder of the bond we had, and that bond is eternal.
Being a father is one of the most impactful roles a man can take on. It shapes you, it challenges you, and it makes you a better person. For Vivan, I gave him my heart, my time, and my strength. He made me realize what true love is. And even though he is no longer with me, the impact of being his father will stay with me forever.
Strength is not always about holding on. Sometimes, it’s about knowing when to step back. As a father, the hardest part is realizing that no matter how much you love someone, you can’t always control their path. I learned this the hard way. The pain of Vivan’s departure is something I will carry with me forever, but I am determined to honor him by finding the strength to keep going. His memory, his love, and the lessons he taught me will live on.
Even though Vivan is no longer by my side, his presence remains vibrant within my heart. I will forever honor his memory by embodying the lessons he imparted—the courage he inspired, and the pure, unconditional love he showed me. Vivan’s legacy is rooted deeply in affection, resilience, and the timeless bond shared between a father and his child. It’s a bond that transcends both distance and the passing of days, a legacy I proudly carry forward through every step I take.
Fatherhood is not merely a role; it’s a privilege—an extraordinary journey filled with exhilarating peaks and devastating valleys, profound joy intertwined with heart-rending sorrow, immense strength alongside humbling vulnerability. Vivan illuminated the true essence of love and fortitude. Although our time together was painfully brief, the precious memories of his laughter, the warmth of his embrace, and the strength I discovered within myself as his father remain etched eternally in my soul. My son, forever a part of my very being, lives on vividly through every breath I take, and his memory echoes in everything I accomplish.
